Charlie Company 2-508 Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, currently attached to the Polish Battle Group has been successfully conducting joint patrols in Southeastern Paktika Province.  Charlie Company sometimes uses Polish Army indirect fire support assets for support when patrolling in the area.  In order to ensure that Charlie Company receives timely and accurate indirect fire support, the company Fire Support Officer, (FSO), 1LT John Lehr, and the fire support Non-Commissioned Officer, (FSNCO), SSG Michael Schellenberger work to smooth out the differences between the two army’s indirect fire assets.  Examples include cross-training in basic call for fire and conversion of the Polish 6,000 mil compass and the United States 6,400 mil compass. Working with other countries in the Coalition has not only been beneficial to the efficacy of the Coalition as a whole, it also affords Afghan National Security Forces the opportunity to learn tactics and methods from many different perspectives increasing ANSF's combat effectiveness.
