A year ago the people of the Pech River Valley never dreamed they would be connected to the city of Asadabad through the development of a road. Now the people of the Pech River Valley, Nangalam, Konar Province are enjoying the efforts of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and the International Community. Before the road construction, people of the Pech River Valley would have to endure a grueling 2-3 hour journey along a dangerous dirt road that was barely wide enough for one vehicle and vulnerable to IED attacks. Now the local population can frequently travel to Asadabad in less than an hour for medical attention at the hospital, purchase supplies for their homes, or just enjoy a day of shopping at the local bazaar. The Hollywood Construction Company has pushed the progress of the road well into the Pech River Valley. The road is now much safer and has brought much needed employment opportunities into the valley. With the development of the Pech River Road there has been a noticeable increase in businesses and progress. Many cellular phone towers can now be seen throughout the valley as cellular phone companies are taking notice at the increased opportunities in the valley.
