Governor Rahman Danish, a Konar Sub-governor, hosted a poetry book opening at the Nangalam Hotel.  Over 250 attendees enjoyed the artistic performances put on by the many talented writers and poets of the Konar villages.  Usually the event occurs in the larger more populated areas such as Asadabad, Jalalabad, or Kabul; however, Governor Rahman Danish insisted on hosting the poetry book opening event locally in the Pech River Valley in an effort to bring the intellectual audience into the Dari-Pech River Valley and promote educational development. The poetry book opening is a sign that the security in the area has greatly increased over the past year. Many poets traveled from areas as far as Asadabad and beyond through areas that were once high in insurgent activity. During the Ghoonda attendees were not allowed to discuss personal issues. The time at Ghoondas are meant for relaxation and enjoyment. The event was covered by several different media agencies that included BBC, Radio Television Afghanistan, Kunar Radio Television, Aljeezra Television, Arabic Broadcasting, Azadi Radio, and Blessing Radio.
