Koshtowz, Kamdesh District, Nuristan Province: Tired of being threatened and controlled by the Taliban, local villagers and farmers banded together and drove a Taliban Cell from their midst. The Taliban tactics of emplacing IEDs that threaten the innocent, sending suicide bombers into crowded markets, attacking construction crews building roads and other projects, burning schools and threatening parents who send their children to school have pushed villagers in Nuristan province to their limits. A Coalition Observation Post observed small arms fire from the village of Koshtow, when Coalition Forces arrived to investigate the Taliban were gone. One villager was wounded in the exchange, Coalition Forces transported him via helicopter to a Coalition Hospital. The young man had a broken arm and will return home today.
